Grits and Tamales

Life in the Deep South, by Gabriel Aguilera

About Me

I am an Assistant Professor of Security Studies at the Air War College in Montgomery, Alabama.  My training is in international relations and Latin American studies.  I have taught at several colleges and universities including, among others, California State University, Chico, the Autonomous Technological Institute of Mexico (ITAM), and Occidental College.  My degrees are from Stanford University (BA), University of California, San Diego (MA) and Harvard University (MA & Ph.D.).  My hobbies and interests include cycling (road and mountain), running, good books, food and drink, sports, film, traveling, theatre, and arts.  I still consider Los Angeles home because that’s where my family lives.  I have lived in Montgomery since July 2011.  Below is a picture of me teaching (May 2012).
